The MediaCorp actress was worried that she might go into depression
In Bountiful Blessings, Ann portrays Pin Hong, a beautiful but evil flower fairy, who falls in love with a mortal, and is later exiled into the mortal realm when the Kitchen God (played by Yao Wen Long) sold her out. Knowing that the Kitchen God once had a relationship with a mortal named Fu Xi (Jessica Hester Hsuan), Pin Hong cast a spell on Fu Xi's ex, and began her plan for revenge.
As Bountiful Blessings is a unique drama with mythical elements, all the actors will get a chance to experiment with different period costumes and images. For example, Tay Ping Hui's gangster cook character is actually a weak scholar in his past life.
At the costume fitting for Bountiful Blessings earlier this month, Ann had to go through a two-hour transformation session . She got into a bright and colourful dress and had elaborated hair pieces fitted on. It is believed that it would take Ann more than an hour for hair and make-up, when actual filming starts.
As it has been a very long while since MediaCorp last filmed a period drama, the last time Ann was seen donning a period costume was in Legend Of Ji Gong in 1996.
During an interview with xinmsn, Ann confessed, "I really miss this. Humans are like that, you miss what you can't get, but when you get it, you'll think it's a nuisance. It's different for me; I started my acting career with period dramas. There are always different costumes to put on, so it was nothing to me, I'm used to it. I can even put the costume on by myself."
Ann even showed us a secret. Apparently, certain parts of the period costume is being held together by a piece of Velcro only!
