Angela Zhang: Nano Technology To Kill Cancer Cells In The Future

We cannot deny the fact that cancer is one of the main causes of death in humans especially nowadays. This is the reason why we should be thankful to a high school senior named Angela Zhang because she devoted her time and effort in conducting a biochemistry research that aims to find the best technology that would kill cancer stem cells in the human body. This technology that we are talking about is the so-called Nano technology. Angela Zhang is definitely someone that we should admire because she has chosen to devote her time in this research study than do the usual stuff that most teenagers like her do.

Angela Zhang received $ 100,000 as grand prize for the individual category in the Siemens Competition that was administered by the College Board. This competition is actually a signature program of the Siemens foundation that aims to enhance various fields of studies such as mathematics, science and technology, engineering and mathematics. There were six individuals and six teams that competed in the recently held Siemens competition and presented their worthwhile discoveries before a panel of judges that consist of renowned scientists and mathematicians.

We can say that Angela Zhang is an amazing individual because she was able to achieved such award at a very youngage and her discovery is definitely something that the world need right now. Her project is actually called “Design of Image-guided, Photo-thermal Controlled Drug Releasing Multifunctional Nanosystem for the Treatment of Cancer Stem Cells.” So how did Angela work on this project? Well, Angela created a nano particle system that will act like a Swiss army knife of cancer treatment. This nano particle is multi-functional and can effectively combine therapy and imaging into one platform.

Most experts agree that Angela’s project only proves her creativity and initiative in designing this whole nano particlesystem that could possibly help eradicate the cancer cells in the human body. This project is a very important achievement and will surely give way to the discovery of new approaches in addressing tumors via the use of nano technology.

Angela Zhang is only a 17-year old lady, but she is simply amazing thus, making her a real life Doogie Howser. So what can you say about this achievement?
