It was learnt that the 31-year-old suspect had mistreated and abused the victim whenever they had a fight.
The latest incident occurred at 7pm on Tuesday in Ampang, when the man scolded his wife for taking her time in preparing his dinner, Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Amiruddin Jamaluddin said.
"The victim retaliated, and the enraged suspect hit her. She then locked herself in the toilet.
"Her husband kicked down the toilet door and beat her up again," he added.
To add insult to injury, the suspect robbed his wife of RM500 (S$200) and took her ATM card before fleeing.
The woman who was rushed to a nearby clinic later lodged a police report at the Ampang police station.
