She was first discovered to have filed for marriage papers with her boyfriend of five years, Nadim Van Der Ros, on Mar 31. After more than a month worth of preparations and secret planning, Stefanie Sun's wedding came under the limelight when she admitted her impending nuptials to her fiancé.
A rep from Wonderful Music sent a thank you note to all members of the media today, for their interest and sincere congratulatory messages to the newly-weds.
According to William Hsu, Stefanie went through the traditional wedding rites this morning. Her Dutch-Indonesia husband fetched her from her maternal home and the couple returned to the bride's place for a traditional tea ceremony later in the afternoon. It is said that a wedding banquet dinner will be held in the evening.
Stefanie, 31, will be wearing three different bridal outfits together consisting of a white bridal gown in the morning, a red dress for her return to her maternal home, and a white lace outfit for her banquet dinner at night.
She wrote a little note to share her happiness with everyone.
"Today is a very happy day. It marks the fifth anniversary of me and my partner, and it is also the most important day of my life. The reason behind our decision to get married on this particular day is because we have been seeing each other for a long time, and since the both of us are easygoing people, all that was left to do was to go through the ceremonial rites with no additional nervousness or stress.
"The most stressful part of it all should be the wedding preparation. Today marks a new beginning for me and I hope to become a dutiful wife from this day forth. Thank you everybody! Be it blessings from friends from the media or fans, I have received them all! Thank you! I hope that all the guests attending my wedding today will be happy. The most important thing is, I'll be the prettiest today!"
William shared that Nadim arrived at the bride's house at around 11 in the morning to fetch the bride. He and his entourage of six buddies had to go through three different stages set by the bridesmaids, and offer them a red packet before they were allowed to enter Stefanie's home.
The three different stages included using a lion dance prop to do the lion dance, perform a song item with a toy guitar, and to strike a difficult yoga pose.
It is known that Stefanie's good pals in the industry Jolin Tsai and Zhang Hui Mei will be attending her wedding banquet in the evening today.
Update: According to traditional customs in Singapore, the groom brings the bride to his family home and the couple will pay their respects to the groom's parents and ancestors. After which, the newlyweds will offer tea to the groom's parents and elders.
Then, the bride and groom will return to the bride's family home, where the couple will offer tea to the bride's parents and elders.
At 2pm yesterday (May 8), Stefanie and Nadim offered tea to Nadim's parents at a hotel before they proceeded to Stefanie's parents' home.
The songbird changed into a red traditional Chinese dress when she returned home. The happy bride was said to have kept a smile on her face the entire time.
Stefanie's wedding banquet of 37 tables was held at 7pm, at Capella Hotel in Sentosa on Sunday (May 8).
Stefanie donned a white lace bridal gown, which she designed herself. During the dinner, Stefanie and Nadim showed off their happiness, by singing a duet.
Stefanie's good friends also recorded a video clip for the singer, sharing stories from her past. At the end of the video, her good friends said to Nadim, "You're a lucky man."
Good friend Jolin Tsai, who was in Singapore on May 7 for her concert, also turned up at the wedding.
