SINGAPORE - Local television host Quan Yifeng was charged in court today with two counts of mischief and one count of using criminal force on a taxi driver.
Ms Quan allegedly got into an altercation with a taxi driver, Chan Swee Kong, 52, after he refused to help her load her luggage into the boot of the taxi.
According to earlier reports, he accused her of wrecking his taxi and even kicking him in the groin. He said that she kicked his groin and a car door, then locked herself in the taxi for 15 minutes to thrash it. She allegedly damaged a fare meter and a receipt printer of a ComfortDelGro taxi owned by Mr Chan.
She later came back with allegations of her own that he slammed his car door on her, and swore at her.
The incident took place on June 26, 2010 at around 8:40 am along Upper East Coast Road.
Represented by her lawyer, Subhas Anandan, Quan appeared in court today looking calm, according to media reports.
For each charge of mischief, she could be jailed up to a year, fined, or both if convicted.
For the other charge of using criminal force, she could be jailed up to three months, fined S$1,500 or both.
The pre-trial conference for her case will be held on June 29 this year.
