What is the background for the debut by a promising ballerina on Korea National Ballet?
She said that she was in deep agony just before her debut over whether to continue her career as ballerina as she was suffering from frequent foot injuries.
She confessed that she want a big compensation in return for her giving up ballet. An opportunity came for a model for cosmetics ad when she had been engaged in exercise of an leading role in romantic ballet "Giselle", which she wanted to play for a long time.
She continued she went to the audition room giving excuse of sickness with a help of a senior and came through a 1400 to 1 competition to be the commercial model, surprising all the MCs in the studio.
According to her, on the day when she submitted a resignation with the ballet company, 'Giselle' was staged. She recalled, "I repented quitting ballet without performing long-awaited role in Giselle when I saw a stand-in for my role in the performance."
Do Ji-won said that she started ballet relatively late but entered Sunhwa Arts High School for her unrivalled talents. She revealed that world top class ballerina Kang Su-jin was one of her high-school classmates.
