The Thai student's father received a call from the Thai embassy here informing him of the accident. When he broke the news to his wife, she went hysterical. Then, as he tried to make his way to Singapore to be with his younger daughter, his journey was hindered by floods in Southern Thailand.
The Thai student lost her legs following an accident at an MRT station, is recovering in hospital and will likely remain in Singapore for four months as she undergoes physiotherapy to learn how to walk on prosthetic limbs.
