Jang Na Ra will make a comeback to Korean dramas after a six-year break. The KBS drama “Youthful Beauty (written by Oh Sun Hyung and Jeong Do Yoon, directed by Lee Jin Seo and Lee So Yeon),” which has been greatly anticipated for actor Daniel Choi’s absolutely cute acting in the drama, held a production presentation on April 27 and officially announced the beginning of the drama.

Director Lee Jin Seo and the main actors of “Youthful Beauty” including Jang Na Ra, Daniel Choi, Ryu Jin, Kim Min Seo, Hyun Young, Hong Rok Ki, and Oh Yeon Seo participated in the production presentation held at the Convention Diamant in Daechidong, Seoul. In particular, the protagonist Jang Na Ra was in the center of the attention by appearing in the venue with a bang hairstyle while wearing a pink mini dress, and her young appearance looked very suitable for the drama’s title. The department leader of KBS Contents, Kil Hwan Young, said, “A young appearance has become a talk of conversation in the society these days, and I think that it means something and it contains various interesting episodes. I watched the first episode of the drama and it was really interesting. I am anticipating the drama’s success.” On the video images unveiled during the production presentation, the realistic comic acting of Jang Na Ra and Daniel Choi drew attention and produced laughter among many news reporters. “Youthful Beauty” will be a romantic comedy drama in which a thirty four year-old woman achieves her dream and attains love by overcoming a handicap of age and educational background with only her absolutely young appearance.

But it is not only a drama about an older woman finding love. It will criticize the social atmosphere that discriminates against someone based on age. Director Lee Jin Seo said, “The drama will not be different from previous romantic comedies based on ‘Candy story,’ but I tried a lot to add more new ideas and episodes within the basic storyline.” Jang Na Ra, who will play a thirty four year-old credit delinquent and temporary designer Lee So Young, who has an absolutely young appearance, said, “I am trying my best while acting because I came back to dramas after a long time, and try not to give any harm to the director and other staff members. I think that many people in their twenties and thirties might be able to emphathize with the drama. I have a young appearance, but I am trying to maximize my actual personality of that of a middle-aged woman while acting. It could be a very obvious story, but the drama will be very exciting with various characters’ harmony in the drama.” Actor Daniel Choi will play a n attractive MD in a fashion company, which is completely contrary to his previous character in the sitcom drama “High Kick 2.” He said, “The character Ji Hoon in ‘High Kick 2’ was a very pessimistic and gloomy character, but this time, I will play a very bright character who is completely different in terms of way of behaving. I feel pressured when I hear people saying that I am so much more suitable for this character, but I think that there is nothing to worry about in the drama if I am acting very well.
The story of an older disadvantaged woman, who has the handicap of age compared to her coworkers, beating a young advantaged woman with a better educational background, is expected to arouse sympathy from many women. “Youthful Beauty” will air its first episode on May 2 at 9:55pm on KBS 2TV.
