The China entertainment rumor mill: 70% of actresses are whores

Recently, the Chinese internet went abuzz with an allegedly smuggled video (watch after the jump) showing one not particularly famous singer, Ma Ruila (马睿菈) prostituting herself. While it's probably nothing new that some small-time acts earn money on the side doing titilatting work, Ma also managed to allege that A-listers could be bought as well, including a "Bingbing" who would totally do you for the low price of 500,000rmb.

In the dialogue between the Beijing man and Ma, she says her price is 80,000rmb if he's going to stay the night, with a discount to 50,000rmb if it's a quickie. When he asks if there's anyone more famous he can sleep with, she thinks for a minute and then says "Well, if you have the money, A and B and C list actresses and singers are available... like Bingbing costs around 500,000."

The "Bing bing" could refer to A-list actress Fan Bingbing, who's been accused of possibly being a prostitute before.

Many netizens have accused Ma of orchestrating a publicity stunt, arguing that the man goes to lengths to mention her record and Weibo. They also pointed out that she's done equally attention-hogging things before: In 2009, she slapped famous Taiwanese pop star Angela Chang, something she later told reporters her agency had asked her to do. But others have opined that it's not particularly rare to find entertainment figures willing to go the extra mile.

In fact there have been several "Accompaniment Gates" in the entertainment industry - Most recently, Taiwanese actress Lin Chi-ling's modeling agency was accused of pimping out their models, flying them to places like Las Vegas to accompany anyone rich enough. The going price for Lin is allegedly around 345,000USD a night, something her furious agent argued was "way too cheap!" Well, yeah, that pays for like, five minutes on the Spring Festival Gala, right?

One unnamed industry veteran told Qianlong that there was a big possibility this was real, though Ma's stated price was way too high. He also dropped this tidbit:
"Rich coal bosses especially like to invite female stars "to dine" (a euphemism)." Actress accompaniment prices vary widely - for instance a certan star whose name begins with "G" is a little older, but still very sexy and with international appeal. Her "dining" rate is about 1 million rmb. But a girl who's just starting out and just became a popular actress in a costume drama is only around 30,000rmb. If Ma Ruilan's 80,000, that's a rip off.
He added that about 70% of actresses and singers are willing "to dine," and that offering "dining companions" is a very healthy industry. "Basically every transaction time, the agent gets about 10 to 20% commission."

Wait a second, did he just say G*** L* is available "to dine" for 1 million rmb? I'd say Shanghaiist readers ought to pool our money together and actually take her out to dinner. No euphemism.
